Additional information

No studies investigating the adsorption/desorption behaviour of Bis(tridecyl) adipate (CAS 16958-92-2) are available. Using KOCWIN Program (v2.00), log Koc values in the range of 6.19 to 8.28 were calculated for its main components based on the molecular conductivity index (MCI; Hopp, 2012a). This model has no universally accepted definition of its model domain, but since the substance is outside the Kow range of the training set, the results should be taken with caution. The definite values for the main components may not be fully reliable, but indicate a high adsorption potential of the UVCB substance, which is also to be expected based on the high calculated log Kow values of the main components (11.2 - 15.14, KOWWIN v1.68). However, the log Koc value for one member of the PFAE linear category member (Dioctyl adipate, CAS 123-79-5; Hopp, 2012b) that is characterized by a smaller fatty alcohol (C8) constituent is within the training set and the result is fully reliable indicating a high potential for adsorption (log Koc 4.63). The adsorption potential of Bis(tridecyl) adipate is expected to be higher, due to the longer hydrocarbon side chains which increase the lipophilicity of the substance. Based on this information, it can be assumed that the adsorption potential of Bis(tridecyl) adipate is high.
