First-aid measures

After inhalation: fresh air

After skin contact: wash off with plenty of water. Remove contaminated clothing. Get medical attention.

After eye contact: rinse out with plenty of water with the eye lid held open. Call in ophthalmologist if necessary.

After swallowing: immediately make victim drink water (two glass at most). Consult a physician.

Most important symptoms and effects, both accute and delayed: Diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media: Co2, foam, dry powder

Special hazards: combustible material, development of hazardous combustion gases or vapours possible in the event of fire.

Fire may cause evolution of HCl gas

Fire-fighters: Stay in danger area only with self-contained breathing apparatus. Prevent skin contact by keeping a safe distance or by wearing suitable protective clothing.

Prevent fire-extinguishing water from contaminating surface water or the ground water system. Suppress (knock down) gases/vapours/mists with a water spray jet.

Accidental release measures

Advice for non-emergency personnel: Avoid substance contact, avoid inhalation of dusts, ensure adequate ventilation, evacuate the danger area, observe emergency procedures, consult an expert

Do not empty into drains.

Cover drains, collect, bind, and pump off spills. Take up dry, dispose of properly, clean up affected area, avoid generation of dusts

Handling and storage

Store tightly closed and dry.

This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH regulation Article 18(4) for transported isolated intermediate. Site documentation to support safe handling arrangements including the selection of engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls in accordance with risk-based management system is available at each site. Written confirmation of application of Strictly Controlled Conditions has been received from every Downstream user of the intermediate.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Contains no substance with occupational exposure limit values. Technical mweasures and appropriate working operations should be given priority over the use of personal protective equipment.

Personal protective equipment: Protective clothing should be selected specifically for the working place, depending on concentration and quantity of the hazardous substances handled. The resistance of the protective clothing to chemicals should be ascertained with the respective supplier.

Respiratory protection: required when vapours/aerosols are generated.

The protective gloves to be used must comply with the specifications of EC directive 89/686/EEC and the resultant standard EN374.

Stability and reactivity

The product is chemically stable under standard ambient conditions (room temperature). Violent reactions possible with strong oxidizing agents and bases.

Disposal considerations

Waste material must be disposed of in accordance with the Directive on waste 2008/98/EC as well as other national and local regulations. Leave chemicals in original containers. No mixing with other waste. HAndle uncleaned containers like the product itself.
