First-aid measures

General advice: Immediately remove contaminated clothing. First aid personnel should pay attention to their own safety.

If inhaled: Keep patient calm, remove to fresh air, seek medical attention. On skin contact:

Immediately wash thoroughly with soap and water, seek medical attention.

On contact with eyes: Wash affected eyes for at least 15 minutes under running water with eyelids held open.

On ingestion: Rinse mouth immediately and then drink plenty of water, induce vomiting, seek medical attention. Administer 50 ml of pure ethanol in a drinkable concentration. Seek medical attention.

Note to physician: Symptoms: Single large oral doses may result in such adverse effects as: disturbance of vision, skin irritation

Treatment: Symptomatic treatment (decontamination, vital functions).

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media: water, dry extinguishing media, carbon dioxide, alcohol-resistant foam

Specific hazards: carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide. The substances/groups of substances mentioned can be released in case of fire.

Special protective equipment: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and chemical-protective clothing.

Further information: Collect contaminated extinguishing water separately, do not allow to reach sewage or effluent systems. If exposed to fire, keep containers cool by spraying with water.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions: Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and clothing. Avoid inhalation. Take off immediately all contaminated clothing.

Methods for cleaning up or taking up: For small amounts: Contain with absorbent material (e.g. sand, silica gel, acid binder, general purpose binder, sawdust).

For large amounts: Contain with absorbent material (e.g. sand, silica gel, acid binder, general purpose binder, sawdust).

Handling and storage

Protection against fire and explosion: If exposed to fire, keep containers cool by spraying with water. Vapours may form explosive mixture with air. Prevent electrostatic charge - sources of ignition should be kept well clear - fire extinguishers should be kept handy. Containers should be earthed during decanting operations.

Storage: Keep container tightly closed in a cool, well-ventilated place.
