Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

No toxic effects up to the limit of water solubility (< 0.05 mg/L) for Daphnia magna (OECD 202)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Four experimental studies investigating the short-term toxicity of Fatty acids, C8-10, mixed esters with adipic acid and trimethylolpropane (CAS No. 95912-89-3) to aquatic invertebrates are available. The three key studies were conducted under static conditions according to OECD guideline 202 using Daphnia magna as test organism (Häner, 2006a; b; 2007). A 100 mg/L loading rate Water Accommodated Fraction (WAF) was tested in a limit test. In all of the three studies the EL50 (48 h) was determined to be > 100 mg/L loading rate based on the nominal concentration. These results are supported by an additional study, which was conducted under static conditions according to OECD guideline 202 using Daphnia magna as test organism (Mabon, 2008). A 1000 mg/L loading rate WAF was used in a limit test. No immobilisation and no behavioural abnormalities were observed in the control and the treatment after 48 h exposure time. Hence, the EL50 (48 h) is determined to be > 1000 mg/L loading rate based on the nominal concentration.

Based on this result it can be concluded that no toxicological short-term effects on aquatic invertebrates are expected up to the limit of water solubility for Fatty acids, C8-10, mixed esters with adipic acid and trimethylolpropane.
