Conclusion on classification
For alpha-Terpinyl Acetate aquatic toxicity data are available for three trophic levels (fish, invertebrates and alga). The lowest acute and chronic toxicity values are a 72 -h ErC50 and 72 -h ErC10 of respectively 6.9 mg/L and 4.1 mg/L in freshwater algae. Furthermore, the substance is readily biodegradable and has a log Kow of 4.4. Based on all these data, alpha-Terpinyl Acetate needs to be classified as Chronic Toxicity Category 2, H411 (toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects) according to the CLP Regulations (EC) No 1272/2008. According to the Dangerous Substance Directive 67/548/EC, the available information warrants classification as R51/53 (Harmful to aquatic organisms with long lasting effects).
