Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not sensitising)
Additional information:

Testing for sensitising properties of Phenylsulfonat CA (Branched CaDDBS0 was performed in female Guinea pigs according to OECD Guideline 406 methods. Intradermal induction was performed using 0.2% Phenylsulfonat CA in semi-liquid paraffin. Dermal induction was carried out with 3% Phenylsulfonat CA in petrolatum. 0.1% Phenylsulfonat CA in petrolatum was selected for the challenge treatment. Results show no evidence for sensitisation. Phenylsulfonat CA (Branched CaDDBS) is therefore not a dermal sensitiser.

Migrated from Short description of key information:

Phenylsulfonat CA (Branched CaDDBS) was tested for sensitising properties in guinea pigs. No positive reactions were observed and therefore the test material is not considered to be a skin sensitiser.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the lack of reactions in a guinea pig skin sensitisation study, Branched CaDDBS will not be classified under the DSD or CLP.
