Workshop on the review of ECHA’s Integrated Regulatory Strategy and future steps for identification and prioritisation of substances

Helsinki | 06/03/2024 - 07/03/2024 | -

ECHA organised a two-day workshop to discuss the implementation of ECHA’s  Integrated regulatory strategy.

The workshop was open for EEA countries’ authorities, the European Commission and key stakeholders. Some workshop sessions were open to invited stakeholders while others were only for authorities.

Scope

The workshop reviewed the implementation of ECHA’s integrated regulatory strategy in relation to ECHA’s future priorities and strategic focus. In this context, there were discussions on how ECHA’s work is impacted by the new elements of the European Commission's Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability, including "one substance, one assessment" and possible new tasks.

The aim was to find common views on the optimal approaches for identifying and prioritising (groups of) substances in the coming years and to discuss possibilities to further improve coordination and cooperation of authorities (ECHA, the Commission and Member States) with the aim to increase transparency and predictability of the work and support a more strategic approach for regulatory risk management.
