Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The 96h LC50 of 2.40 mg/L (test material) was determined in an acute toxicity test with Danio rerio according to OECD TG 203 under GLP conditions (Reliability 2). The LC 50 = 1.84 mg/L based on the active ingredient concentration (76.7%).

Additional information

Three acute fish toxicity studies are available for various Quaternary ammonium compounds, alkylbis(hydroxyethyl)methyl, chlorides. The key study is based on the same substance as registered: Quaternary ammonium compounds, C12-18-alkylbis(hydroxyethyl)methyl, chlorides (reliability 2). The two supporting studies are performed with pure quaternary ammonium compound C12 and quaternary ammonium compound C14 (both reliability 4, because no GLP, no certificates of analysis of the technical products were available, nominal concentrations based on test material). All studies were performed according to OECD 203, only the study performed with C12-18 was performed according to GLP criteria. The study performed with the C12-18 will be used as key study.

The key study was performed with Danio rerio under semi-static conditions in accordance with OECD TG 203 (GLP). The test was assigned reliability 2 because no chemical analyses of the test concentrations were performed during the test. The reported concentrations are nominal concentrations based on test material (76.7%). The LC50 (96 h) was calculated to be 2.40 mg/L with 98% confidence limits of 1.8 and 3.2 mg/L. The LC50 converted to active ingredient is 1.84 mg/L.
