Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: If symptomatic, move to fresh air. Treat symptomatically.

Get medical attention if symptoms occur.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Any material that is in the eye should be washed out

immediately with water.  Get medical attention if symptoms

occur.

Emergency measure - Skin: Immediately flush with plenty of water for at least

15 minutes. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Get

medical attention if symptoms occur. Wash contaminated

clothing before reuse. Destroy or thoroughly clean

contaminated shoes.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Drink 1-2 glasses of water. Seek medical attention. Never

give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Use appropriate medium for adjacent fire.

Product arising from burning: Hydrogen chloride

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: In case of insufficient ventilation, wear suitable

respiratory equipment.  Wear safety glasses with side

shields, impervious gloves and protective clothing.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Collect up and put in a suitable container. Avoid generation

of dust. Clean surface thoroughly to remove residual

contamination.

Handling and storage

Handling: Avoid breathing dust. Avoid contact with eyes, skin, and

clothing. Use with adequate ventilation. Wash thoroughly

after handling.

Storage: Keep away from heat, sources of ignition and contact with

oxidizing materials. Keep continer closed.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: The substance will be imported into the Kodak Industrie

company plant site in sealed, poly-lined bags inside

cardboard boxes.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: The substance can decompose above 246 degrees Celsius.

Chemical reaction with water: Experience in use and structure-activity relationships

indicate that the test substance is not hazardous in contact

with water or humid air.

Dust explosion: There are no data or experience indicating this substance

presents a dust explosion hazard; however no testing has

been conducted to characterize its dust explosibility

properties.  Fines of this substance, like those of many

organic dusts, may be capable of forming explosible dust

clouds in air.  Minimize dust generation and accumulation.

Keep away from sources of ignition.  Use adequate

ventilation.

Dust explosion determined by test: N

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: It is not practical to recover or recycle the substance

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: It is not practical to neutralize the substance.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: A temperature of 1000 degrees C is expected to be sufficient

to destroy the substance.  Combustion will produce hydrogen

chloride

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Computer model (STP Fugacity model) program predicts 1.85%

removal in waste water treatment plants.  The SIMPLETREAT

model predicts 0% removal in waste water treatment

plants.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: None

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: It is not practical to recover or recycle the substance
