Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: - Move the exposed person to fresh air. In case of

indisposition, seek medical advice.

Emergency measure - Eyes: - Rinse with plenty of water. If irritation occurs, seek

medical advice.

Emergency measure - Skin: - Wash with soap and water.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: - Symptomatic treatment. In case of indisposition, seek

medical advice.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: - Water, foam, dry powder, CO2

Product arising from burning: - Substance itself does not represent a fire hazard. If

involved in a fire, mainly nitric oxides, carbon oxides as

well as sulfur-, fluorine- amd sodium-compounds may be

produced.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: - Self contained breathing apparatus should be used.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: - During handling and destruction of the substance, wear

dust mask, suitable goggles, impermeable gloves and

protective clothing.

For dry residues, collect and discharge by incineration in

a suitable plant. For spillage, absorb with adequate

absorber and discharge by incineration in a suitable

plant.

The labelling of the containers filled with the substance

to be destroyed should indicate the danger of the sub-

stance.

Handling and storage

Handling: - The usual precautions for the handling with chemicals

should be observed.

If the substance is handled as a powder, avoid dust forma-

tion and wear dust mask. Dust-proof filling apparatus or

appropriate exhaust system should then be used.

Avoid skin contact and wear impermeable gloves.

Storage: - The containers should be stored tightly closed in unbreak-

able containers in adequate rooms.

Avoid spillings of the product outside the containers.

Remarks:
Transport: - The product will be shipped in adequate, tightly closed

containers, e.g. in polyethylene sacks in sealed steel-

drums. Avoid unintentional spilling of the substance

by taking adequate precautions.

The containers have to be labelled according to the perti-

nent regulations.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: - Compounds of this type have been known to cause respira-

tory sensitisation if inhaled in dust form.

It can not be ruled out that the handling of other reac-

tive dyes may also involve a risk of this type.

Therefore, the handling precautions mentioned at 2.3.1

must be observed.

Chemical reaction with water: - Does not react with water.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: - Normal application results in the consumption of 83 % by

irreversible binding to textiles.

Recovery for recycling of the remaining water soluble

substance is not reasonable practical.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: - None known.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: - Not suitable for deposit in landfill site.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: - Discharge by incineration at high temperatures in excess

of 1200°C in a suitable facility with the equipment

necessary to remove oxides of sulfur and nitrogen as well

as halogenated compounds.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: - It is estimated that 17 % of the total quantity used is

discharged into internal industrial effluents as a highly

diluted solution. A purification of the waste water is

recommended. This substance should be used in a well

equipped dye house.

The waste water can be purified by membrane filtration or

by floculation with cationic agents or by treatment with

ozone.

The most effective method is the membrane filtration: more

than 99 % of the dyestuff can be removed from the waste

water.
