First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Not stated
Emergency measure - Eyes: Flush eyes with running water for at least 15 minutes. Seek
medical attention.
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with soap and water
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Do not give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.
Seek immediate medical attention. [UK c.a.: Do not induce
vomiting.]

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: In case of fire use water, foam, carbon dioxide or dry
chemical powder. Wear a self-contained, positive pressure
breathing apparatus. Do not allow run-off water to enter
drains.

Accidental release measures

Handling and storage

Handling: Maintain exposure below the TWA (1.4 ml/m3). Local exhaust
ventilation should be used to control the generation of
airborne dust at points of transfer or other points where
full enclosure is not feasible. Employees engaged in
handling bulk quantities of hydramethylnon should remove
work clothing and shower prior to leaving the worksite. All
employees working with the material should wash their hands
prior to consuming food or tobacco products. Where it is
not feasible to use engineering controls and employee-
exposure could exceed 1.4 mg/m3, a NIOSH-approved
respirator must be worn. For exposure up to 10 x TWA, a
NIOSH-approved cartridge respirator for pesticides is
acceptable. For higher levels of exposure, use a NIOSH-
approved air or self-contained pressure-demand respirator.
Dust-proof goggles are recommended for employees engaged in
operations where there is a risk of accidental eye contact.
Normal work clothing, (eg cloth overalls) is indicated.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry place in tightly closed containers.
Avoid accumulation of dust through good housekeeping
practices as dust may be explosive.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery for reuse is not possible.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable (Italian c.a. summary)

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Recommended. [UK c.a.: The substance may be destroyed by
incineration. Waste gas scrubbing to remove hydrogen
fluoride gas and nitrogen oxides should be used].

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will not enter the public domain as such.
Recovery from formulations is not feasible.
