FAT 40576 does not dissociate or protonate in the environmentally relevant pH range. The behaviour of FAT 40'576/A in aqueous solutions is dominated by the strongly acidic -S03H-groups and the alkylsulphuric acid group. The molecule is negatively charged and is present in anionic form over the whole environmentally relevant pH range.
