Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: In case of excessive inhalation remove the person to the

fresh air and keep at rest in a comfortable position. Obtain

medical advice.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Immediately rinse eyes with plenty of water. Obtain medical

advice immediately.

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash off skin with plenty of soap and water if available. If

any sign of irritation is apparent obtain medical advive.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Rinse mouth with plenty of water. Drink a glass / cup of

water or milk. Do not induce vomiting. Obtain medical

advice.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Foam, dry chemical, CO2

Product arising from burning: Depending on the oxygen supply CO2, CO nitrogen oxides, soot

and smoke.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: No special protective equipment required.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Small spillages should be absorbed onto porous inert

material such as sand, earth or vermiculite and disposed of

in accordance with local regulations.

Large spillages should be contained by the use of sand or

other inert material, transferred to a suitable container

and recovered or disposed of in accordance with local

regulations. Any combustible material such as cloth used for

cleaning spillages should be disposed of promptly,

preferably by incineration.

Handling and storage

Handling: Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Wear suitable gloves and

eye protection. Avoid sources of ignition.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry, well ventillated area at a temperature

of around 15 degrees C and away from direct sunlight.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: If spilled Agarbois could be recovered by careful

distillation after suitable recovery techniques have been

employed. When compounded into a fragrance recovery would be

very difficult as it would be part of a multi component

mixture.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Washing with soap and water should neutralise any effects

from accidental skin contact.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: As Agarboisis not readily or ultimately biodegradable it

should not be flushed to the drains. However, it has been

shown that Agarbois does not inhibit sewage sludge

functions.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Agarbois should be disposed of by incineration. No special

techniques are required as no hazardous combustion products

are expected.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: When incorporated into fragraces or final consumer products

there is little possibility of recovering this material.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Washing with soap and water should neutralise any effects

from unwanted skin contact.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Consumer products will only contain low levels of Agarbois

and should thus be suitable for disposal by land fill.

Depending on the nature of the consumer product flushing to

the drains with plenty of water should not pose any risk to

the environment.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Depending on the nature of the consumer product incineration

is the recommended method of disposal for Agarbios.
