Reference
Endpoint:
boiling point
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
11 February 2009 - 03 July 2009
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: OECD guidelines followed and statement of GLP
Qualifier:
equivalent or similar to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 103 (Boiling point/boiling range)
Qualifier:
equivalent or similar to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.2 (Boiling Temperature)
GLP compliance:
yes
Type of method:
differential scanning calorimetry
Boiling pt.:
> 673 K
Atm. press.:
102.31 kPa

The thermograms show no clear sign of either boiling or degradation. This was confirmed by the presence of a residue in the crucibles similar in appearance to that of the test material. An investigative thermogram was carried out and taken up to 450°C. This

showed the start on an endotherm between 400°C and 450°C and was considered to be the start of the test material boiling.

Overall boiling point result: >673 ± 0.5 K

Conclusions:
The boiling point of the test material has been determined to be >673 ± 0.5 K (>400 ± 0.5°C) at 102.31 kPa.
Executive summary:

The study was conducted in order to determine the general physico-chemical properties of the test material. The boiling point of the test material has been determined to be >673 ± 0.5 K (>400 ± 0.5°C) at 102.31 kPa.

Description of key information

A key GLP study conducted in accordance with the OECD 103 guideline, boiling point= >673 ± 0.5 K (>400 ± 0.5°C) at 102.31 kPa

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Boiling point at 101 325 Pa:
673 K

Additional information

A GLP compliant study conducted in accordance with the OECD 103 guideline, reported the boiling point of the test material to be >673 ± 0.5 K (>400 ± 0.5°C) at 102.31 kPa.
