Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Skin irritation has been investigated using OECD/EU test methods. Exposure to the substance for 4 hours did not result in any irritant response.

An in-vitro screen for irritancy has been undertaken using the HET-CAM assay. The substance showed a mild irritant effect and would therefore be predicted to be non-irritant in vivo. An in-vivo test for eye irritation has been performed using OECD/EU test methods. The substance has an irritant effect on the eye with a degree of variation in severity of response elicited. Athough the mean scores recorded are insufficient to meet the criteria for classification as irritant under the EC (DSD) classification scheme, the severity of the observed response in one animal was such that it has been proposed to classify the substance and apply the risk phrase R36. The revised criteria of GHS require classification as a category 2 eye irritant.

Effects on eye irritation: irritating

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the experimentally determined results, classification as a skin irritant is not required but classification as an eye irritant is indicated.
