Description of key information
The inhibition of the degradation activity of activated sludge is not anticipated when introduced in appropriate low concentrations.

Additional information
The toxicity of the test substance on microorganisms was investigated in a respiration test according to OECD guideline 209 (CIBA-GEIGY Ltd. 1991b)). No significant inhibition in the respiration rate of the sludge was observed up to the highest concentrations. The test substance is not toxic to wastewater bacteria. EC20 and EC50 (3 h) are above 100 mg/L.
