Preparation of test site:
other: clipped and abraded
Vehicle:
water
Controls:
not required
Amount / concentration applied:
TEST MATERIAL
- Amount(s) applied (volume or weight with unit): 0.5 g
- Concentration (if solution): 40% mixture with water

Duration of treatment / exposure:
4 h
Observation period:
3 days
Reading time points: 24 and 72 h
Number of animals:
6 (Hair-clipped)
6 (abraded)
Details on study design:
TEST SITE
- Type of wrap if used: The patches are fixed to the application site by means of adhesive tape and the entire trunk of the rabbits is wrapped with an impervious material to maintain the test patches in position and to retard the evaporation of volatile substances.

REMOVAL OF TEST SUBSTANCE
- Washing (if done): the material was removed
- Time after start of exposure: 24 h

Results and discussion

In vivo

Resultsopen allclose all
Irritation parameter:
erythema score
Basis:
mean
Remarks:
out of 6 animals
Time point:
other: mean over 24, 48 and 72 h
Score:
1.5
Max. score:
4
Reversibility:
no data
Remarks on result:
other: intact skin; no 48 h data are available; for calculation of mean scores, the 48 values were assumed to be the same as those at 24 h (worst case assumption: persistence of effects seen at 24 h over 48 h)
Irritation parameter:
edema score
Basis:
mean
Remarks:
out of 6 animals
Time point:
other: mean over 24, 48 and 72 h
Score:
0.61
Max. score:
4
Reversibility:
no data
Remarks on result:
other: intact skin; no 48 h data are available; for calculation of mean scores, the 48 values were assumed to be the same as those at 24 h (worst case assumption: persistence of effects seen at 24 h over 48 h)
Irritant / corrosive response data:
-Intact skin (24 h): very slight or well-defined erythema and very slight edema;
-Intact skin (72 h): very slight or well-defined erythema, very slight or slight ischemia and very slight or slight edema;
-Abraded skin (24 h): well-defined or moderate erythema, very slight or slight ischemia (especially on abrasions) and very slight to moderate edema;
-Abraded skin (72 h): well-defined or moderate erythema, slight to distinct ischemia and very slight or slight edema
