Description of key information

In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex IX, Soil simulation testing (required in section 9.2.1.3) was not conducted as the substance is highly insoluble in water and hydrolytically unstable (see IUCLID5 section 5.1.2). In addition, in a biodegradation study (MITI, 2011), the test substance Sika Hardener LH was completely hydrolyzed to 2,2-dimethyl-3-oxopropyl dodecanoate and hexamethylenediamine. These converted products were biodegraded. The percentage (average) of biodegradation by BOD was 91 % after 28 days. Therefore, the test substance is considered to be readily biodegradable. From experience in handling and use it is very unlikely that direct and indirect exposure of soil occurs, as the substance rapidly hydrolysis in contact with water. In addition, the substance is incorporated in a polymer during professional and consumer use and is thus not present in the environment as such.
