Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

EC 424 -820-7 auto-ignition temperature was determined according to EEC 92/69 Method A15. Testing was conducted to a GLP standard.

A known volume of the registration substance was injected into a heated open Erlenmeyer flask containing air. The contents of the flask were observed in a darkened room for five minutes following injection of a sample or until ignition occurred. Ignition was evidenced by sudden appearance of a flame inside the flask. If the flame was not observed in 5 minutes the volume of sample tested was considered non-flammable at the temperature of the flask. If a flame was observed the timer was stopped and the time interval between sample injection and appearance of the flame recorded to the nearest second as the lag time. This was repeated at different temperatures and with different sample volumes until the minimum value of ignition temperature was obtained.

The registration substance was found to have a auto-ignition temperature of 234 degrees centigrade.
