Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Key study: Study well documented, meets generally accepted scientific principles, acceptable for assessment. The BCF was determined to be 0.23. It can be concluded that sodium bromide pose no bioaccumulation risk in aquatic invertebrates.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

BCF (aquatic species):
0.23 dimensionless

Additional information

Key study: The bioaccumulation of sodium bromide in aquatic invertebrates (Artemia salina larvae) was determined using a concentration of 10% LC50 of the test substance (53.11 mg/l). The test organisms were exposed for 168 h to sodium bromide. The BCF was determined to be 0.23. The BCF obtained in the present experiment is similar to that obtained by estimations based on the physical/chemical properties of the compound, using EPI-Suite (3.16). Since the BCF value obtained is below 100, it can be concluded that sodium bromide pose no bioaccumulation risk in these organisms.
