Administrative data

Endpoint:
flammability
Type of information:
migrated information: read-across based on grouping of substances (category approach)
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: Category is coherent for more than 10 endpoints. Both "ends" of the serie are clearly non-flammable.

Results and discussion

Flammable solids
Test procedure:
burning time (test type not further specified)
Remarks:
or specified in description of method (migrated information)
Burning time:
> 216 s
Pyrophoric solids
Test procedure:
ignition time on contact with air
Remarks:
Ignition on contact with air refers to either Pyrophoric solids or Pyrophoric liquids depending on physical state (migrated information).
Remarks on result:
no ignition on contact with air (not further specified)
Remarks:
corresponding to 'no' in migrated source record.
Pyrophoric liquids
Test procedure:
ignition time on contact with air
Remarks:
Ignition on contact with air refers to either Pyrophoric solids or Pyrophoric liquids depending on physical state (migrated information).
Remarks on result:
no ignition on contact with air (not further specified)
Remarks:
corresponding to 'no' in migrated source record.
Substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Remarks on result:
no reaction with water observed
Remarks:
corresponding to 'no' in migrated source record.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
Both "ends" of the APP category, on one hand APP-6505 (C5) and on the other hand APP-6512 (C10-12) appeared as non-flammable when tested according to A.10 method. APP-6512 can thus be considered with high confidence as non-flammable.
