The ready biodegradability of the test material was determined in two studies which were both conducted in accordance with standardised guidelines OCED 301 B and EU Method C.4 -C by the measurement of CO2 evolution in a modified Sturm test. Under the conditions of the test reported by Calmels (1995), biodegradation of the test material was 9 % in 28 days. Under the conditions of the test conducted by Licata-Messana (1998), biodegradation of the test material was 5 % in 28 days. Therefore, the test material can be classified as not readily biodegradable.

Both studies were performed in line with GLP and accepted standardised guidelines with a high standard of reporting. Each study was assigned a reliability score of 1 in accordance with the criteria of Klimisch (1997) and considered suitable for assessment as an accurate reflection of the test material.

The available data are considered to be complete and the conclusion, not readily biodegradable, was taken forward for risk assessment.
