Description of key information

The substance is not acutely toxic to fish at its limit of solubility in water medium.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The toxicity to aquatic fish (Onchorhynchus mykiss) has been determined on a very close analogue according to OECD Guideline 203 and EU Method C.1 and in compliance with GLP. As no mortality was observed at the limit test of 100 mg/L, it is considered that the tested substance has no effect to fish at its limit of solubility in water medium (0.2 mg/l). The substance was demonstrated not to be acutely toxic to fish (LC0 > 0.2 mg/l).

In addition a QSAR was performed as a supporting study for acute toxicity to fish using ECOSAR. The applicability domain is fulfilled and the prediction can be estimated as relatively reliable. The LC50/96h has been estimated to be 34 mg/l, which is much higher than the water solubility. Therefore it is considered that the substance is not acutely toxic to fish at its limit of solubility in water medium (LC50 > 0.72 mg/l).

The LC0 > 0.2 mg/l will be used to express the lack of toxicity of the substance to fish.
