Conclusion on classification

Ethyl 3,5 -dichloro-4 -hexadecyloxycarbonyloxybenzoate (AF-366) is not toxic to aquatic organisms within the range of its water solubility (0.078 mg/L). Nevertheless, as the substance is poorly soluble in water, not rapidly biodegradable and shows potential for bioaccumulation in biota, classification is applied as a precautionary measure. In accordance with the classification criteria stated in 67/548/EEC (Dangerous Substances Directive, DSD), AF-366 is classified as R53, May cause long-term adverse effects in the aquatic environment. In accordance with the classification criteria stated in Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP), the substance is classified as Chronic Category 4, H413: May cause long lasting harmful effects to aquatic life.
