Description of key information

The viscosity for Hydrocarbons, C7-C8, n-alkanes is < 1cP at 20 °C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The measurement of viscosity of petroleum distillates is covered by method ASTM D 7042. A range of 0.5 to 1.5 mm2/s at 20 °C covers all possible grades within this substance description if measured with the agreed method. Two tests conducted by ExxonMobil Chemical (2010) and Sasol Wax (2010) demonstrate that measured values fall within these borderline values. ExxonMobil Chemical (2010) measured a viscosity of 0.85 mm2/s according to ASTM D 7042, demonstrating values to fall in the same range by using other methods. Following ASTM D 445 Sasol Wax (2010) measured a viscosity of 0.7 mm2/s at 20 °C.
