Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Exposure by inhalation: Remove victim to fresh air. Seek medical attention if symptoms persist.

Exposure by skin and eye contact: Wash skin with soap and plenty of water. Flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes.

Exposure by ingestion: Drink 1 or 2 glasses of water. Do not induce vomiting. Seek medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

EXTINGUISHING MEDIA: Use water spray, dry chemical foam or carbon dioxide.
SPECIAL FIRE-FIGHTING PROCEDURES: Evacuate personnel to a safe area. Keep personnel removed and upwind of fire. Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and full protective equipment.

Accidental release measures

ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES:
Personal precautions: Evacuate personnel from immediate vicinity. Refer to safety precautions in Exposure Controls / Personal protection section.

Environmental precautions: Do not release to drain.

Methods for cleaning up: Transfer the spillage to waste containers labelled in the same way as the original containers. Clean the spillage area with water and detergent.

General: Consult an expert on the disposal of recovered material. Ensure disposal is in compliance with government requirements and ensure conformity of local disposal regulations. Notify the appropriate authorities immediately. Take all additional action necessary to prevent and remedy the adverse effects of the spill.

Specific: Evacuate personnel, thoroughly ventilate area. Sweep up spillage and transfer to waste container labelled in the same way as the original container. Scrub contaminated area with detergent and water. Prevent clean-up liquid from entering sewers, waterways or low areas. Soak up with sand or other absorbent material.

Handling and storage

HANDLING
Precautions: The substance should be handled under conditions of good industrial hygiene and in conformity with any local regulations to avoid unnecessary exposure.

STORAGE
Precautions: Specific design for storage rooms or vessels: none
Incompatible materials: none
Conditions of storage: Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from sunlight. Keep containers tightly closed when not in use.
Quality limits: None
Packaging materials: Glass or plastic containers

SPECIFIC USES
Fertiliser additive (urease inhibitor) for urea containing fertiliser.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Engineering measures: Engineering controls are recommended to reduce exposure to the substance.

Specific control parameters: Use only in a well ventilated area.

Personal protective equipment: The provision of personal protective equipment and the need to provide engineering control measures should be decided upon by the use as part of a formal exposure risk assessment.

Respiratory protection: Use only with adequate ventilation (natural or mechanical ventilation sufficient enough to provide a good aeration of the workplace). If used with adequate ventilation wear NIOSH/MSHA approved dust respirator.

Eye protection: Eye protection should be used when handling the substance. The protection should be capable of giving chemical protection as classified in EN166.

Skin protection: Handling of the material should be done wearing chemical protection clothing suitable for protection against the chemical as classified by Standard EN368 (use ANSELL EDMONT NEOX Neoprene gloves number 9-912 or equivalent).

ES1: Formulation of liquid mixture (substance as such)
Specific control parameters: Use no longer than 4 hours.
Respiratory protection: Use only with adequate mechanical ventilation (Efficiency: 95%).
Eye protection: Use chemically resistant face shield, goggles or safety glasses with side shields when handling the substance.
Skin protection: Handling of the material should be done wearing chemically resistant gloves conforming to EN374 with specific training (e.g. procedures for glove removal and disposal).

ES2: Industrial use of liquid formulation (upt to 25%)
Specific control parameters: Use no longer than 8 hours, within the scope of spraying applications.

ES3: Spreading of fertiliser
Specific control parameters: Use only in concentrations up to 0.06%. Wear work clothing (long-sleeve shirt, long pants, shoes plus socks).

Stability and reactivity

Stability: Stable at normal temperatures
Hazardous polymerisation: Will not occur
Incompatibility: Incompatible with acids, strong oxidising agents; reducing agents
Hazardous Thermal Decomposition Products: Thermal decomposition will produce oxides of carbon, nitrogen and sulphur.

Disposal considerations

Waste from residues: Disposal by incineration or landfill in accordance with local regulations.
Stack gases should be scrubbed.
Contaminated packaging: Dispose of by incineration or landfill in accordance with local regulations.
