Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Hydrolysis of NBPT was investigated in two phases under different conditions. The dissipation half-life of the parent compound was determined at 25 °C at different pH-values. The resulting DT50-values were: 58 min (at pH 3), 92 d (at pH 7) and 16 d (at pH 11), respectively.

The biodegradation of NBPT was tested in a modified sturm test. The test resulted in a degradation rate of the test substance of 9.51% based on CO2-evolution. Thus NBPT is not readily biodegradable under aerobic conditions.

The adsorption potential of NBPT on soil / sewage sludge was evaluated using a HPLC screening method at 25 °C. The extrapolated log Koc-values from regression data were 0.5 (mean of three replicates) and 0.8 (mean of three replicates), respectively.

Thus a resulting log Koc-value of < 1.25 was deduced (lowest available reference value).
