The acute toxicity of CTFEP (purity 91.4%) to rainbow trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss was determined in a static test (Mauranne, 2001). The test was performed according to OECD 203, EU Method C.1 and the EPA OPP 72-1. Deviations to the guideline were minor, e.g., some fish exceeded the maximum length stated in the OECD guideline, i.e. and less fish than referred to in the EPA OPP guideline were used (7 instead of 10). The test was performed with a control and nominal Control (0), 2.3, 4.1, 7.4, 13, and 24 mg test item/L, mean measured: control, 3.2, 4.5, 8.5, 17 and 27 mg test item/L, corresponding to mean measured Control, 2.92, 4.11, 7.77, 15.5, and 24.7 mg CTFEP/L. During the study, the temperature of the test solutions ranged from 13.5 to 13.8°C. After 96 hours of exposure, 0, 0, 0, 1, 6, and 7 out of 7 fish had died in the mean measured Control, 2.92, 4.11, 7.77, 15.5, and 24.7 mg CTFEP/L treatment groups. The 96 h LC50 was determined to be 11 mg CTFEP /L. The concentrations were based on mean measured concentrations. The test was performed with the technical product of CTFEP. The identity of the impurities was not reported. This study was performed according to international guidelines and under GLP. Therefore, this study was considered to be Klimisch 1 study.

The obtained results are considered as relevant for the risk assessment.
