Description of key information

The substance is very soluble in water (> 10 g/L at ambient temperature). In water, the substance hydrolyzes to give 3-hydroxopropanesulfonic acid. This reaction may be accelerated by acid.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
171 g/L
at the temperature of:
25 °C

Additional information

As the substance has a very polar structure, it is assumed that substance is very soluble in water. This assumption is in line with observations during use. The high solubility of the substance in water which is a consequence of the polarity of the molecule due to its content in polar groups. Substances similar to the hydrolysis product are used as surfuctants in water.

The substance is very soluble in water but hydrolizes. No experimental testing is required.
