Test solutions

Details on test solutions:
PREPARATION OF TEST SOLUTION

The test substance was intensively stirred for 5 min with dilution water and the mixture was incorporated into the test vessel and stirred for another 2 hours. Complete dissolution was achieved, but 48 h after starting of the test precipitate on the bottom of the test vessel was observed.
After dissolving the test substance the pH of 4.0 was adjusted to 8.1 with 9.25 mL of saturated sodium hydroxide solution. During the study the pH again decreased to pH 6.2 -6.5.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Conclusions:
In this study the test item did not cause mortality to zebrafish after 96 h when tested with a 500 mg/L (nominal) solution
Executive summary:

The acute toxicity of the test item to fish (zebrafish) was determined according to OECD-Guideline for Testing of Chemicals No. 203 (1984) at Hoechst AG, Frankfurt, Germany. A static limit test with a 500 mg/L (nominal) solution was conducted. The preparation method has been chosen with regard to the test item properties and in accordance with the relevant OECD guidance document. Duration of the test was 96 h. 10 test organisms were exposed to the test solution and the control respectively. Water quality parameters pH-value, temperature and oxygen-saturation measured after 0, 2 -4, 24, 48, 72 and 96 h were determined to be within the acceptable limits.

The 500 mg/L solution of the test item didn´t show lethality at all observation time points up to 96 hours.
