Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Acute Fish Toxicity:

Water accommodated fractions of hydrocarbons, C9-C11, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, cyclics, <2% aromatics, produced a 96-hour LL50 value of >1000 mg/L and LL0 value of 100 mg/L with rainbow trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss. No mortality was observed in the highest dose tested. These data are used as read-across data to Hydrocarbons, C9-C12, n-alkanes, isoalkanes < 2% aromatics.

Chronic Fish Toxicity:

The hydrocarbons, C9 -C11, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, cyclics, <2% aromatics, estimated freshwater fish 28-day NOELR (No Observed Effect Loading Rate) value is 0.131 mg/l based on growth. These data are used as read-across data to Hydrocarbons, C9-C12, n-alkanes, isoalkanes < 2% aromatics.

Acute Invertebrate Toxicity:

The water accommodated fraction (WAF) of hydrocarbons, C9-C12, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, <2% aromatics, did not produce a 50% effect (immobility) with Daphnia magna at a loading of 180 mg/L after a 48-hour exposure. Therefore, the 48-hour LL50 is reported as >180 mg/L. The 48 hour No Observed Effect Loading Rate (NOELR) for immobility was 180 mg/L.

Data are also available for the invertebrate toxicity of the surrogate substance, hydrocarbons, C9-C11, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, cyclics, <2% aromatics. The water accommodated fraction (WAF) of hydrocarbons, C9-C11, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, cyclics, <2% aromatics, did not produce a 50% effect (immobility) with Daphnia magna at a loading of 1000 mg/L after a 48-hour exposure. Therefore, the 48-hour LL50 is reported as >1000 mg/L. There was no mortality at the 1000 mg/L loading level after 48 hours. Therefore, the 48-hour LL0 for mortality is reported as 1000 mg/L. There was also no mortality in the control.

Chronic Invertebrate Toxicity:

The hydrocarbons, C9-C11, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, cyclics, <2% aromatics, estimated freshwater invertebrate 21-day NOELR (No Observed Effect Loading Rate) value is 0.230 mg/l based on reproduction. These data are used as read-across data to Hydrocarbons, C9-C12, n-alkanes, isoalkanes < 2% aromatics.

Algal Toxicity:

Growth of algal cultures, as measured by growth rate, exposed to water accommodated fractions of hydrocarbons, C9-C12, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, <2% aromatics, was not inhibited by more than 50% over 72 hours. Therefore, the 72-hr EL50 value for this endpoint is reported as >391 mg/L. The 72-hr NOELR value for growth rate was 391 mg/L.

Data are also available for the algal toxicity of the surrogate substance, hydrocarbons, C9-C11, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, cyclics, <2% aromatics. Growth of algal cultures, as measured by biomass and growth rate, exposed to water accommodated fractions of hydrocarbons, C9-C11, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, cyclics, <2% aromatics, was not inhibited by more than 50% over 72 hours. Therefore, the 72-hr EL50 values for these two endpoints are reported as >1000 mg/L. The 72-hr NOELR values for biomass and growth rate are 3 and 100 mg/L, respectively.

Microorganisms Toxicity:

The hydrocarbons, C9-C11, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, cyclics, <2% aromatics, estimated protozoan, Tetrahymena pyriformis, 48-hr EL50 value for this substance is 0.950 mg/L based on growth inhibition. These data are used as read-across data to Hydrocarbons, C9-C12, n-alkanes, isoalkanes < 2% aromatics.
