Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Experimental value for test item surface tension : 33.2 mN/m ± 0.1 mN/m at 21.0 ±0.1 °C
The test item solution is a surfactant, because its surface tension lower than 60mN/m (the threshold for surface tension which is stated in the guidelines)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Surface tension:
33.2
in mN/m at 20°C and concentration in mg/L:
256 000

Additional information

The determination of the surface tension was performed according to the Regulation (EC) N°440/2008, A.5 "Surface tension", May 2008 and the OECD Guideline N°115 "Surface tension of aqueous solution", adopted July, 27, 1995 using the plate method.

No deviations from the guidelines was observed during the test.

The measured surface tension of water is 73.1 mN/m ± 0.2 mN/m.Literature surface tension of water at 20.1 °C: 72.5 mN/m(value from CRC Handbook of chemistry and physics, 89thedition, 2008-2009).According to the results of the reference item, the test has to be considered as valid and the substance has some surface active properties.
