Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The adsorption coefficient (Koc) of the substance was determined in a test according to OECD TG 121. Koc was determined at pH 5.5 and 7.5 for soil and sewage sludge. The Koc soil was determined as 316 L/kg at pH of 7.5. The Koc sewage sludge was determined as 251 L/kg at pH 7.5

Additional information

The adsorption coefficient (KOC) on soil and sewage sludge using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) was estimated according to OECD 121 and Council Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008, Method C.19 for the test item nonylphenolethoxylate, sarcosine derivative.

The test was considered fully valid (GLP, reliability 1) as all validity criteria were fulfilled, including complete identification of the test substance. The test was performed at pH 5.5 taking into account the zwitterionic form and at pH 7.5, taking into account both the zwitterionic and the anionic form. Calibration was performed using seven reference items for soil and six for sewage sludge with known values of log Koc. The dead time of the HPLC system was determined threefold using 10 mg/L sodium nitrate.

Two peaks were detected in the chromatograms of the test item. The first peak was identified as the main component (accounting for 70% of the test item). Based on the calibration curves for soil and sewage sludge under the two different pH-conditions the log Koc and Koc values described in the Table were obtained.

The Koc of 316 (log Koc 2.5) determined for soil at pH 7.5 and the Koc of 251 (log Koc 2.4) determined for sewage sludge at pH 7.5 are considered representative for the substance and are used for further calculations in the risk assessment.
