Description of key information

Based on the results obtained in the preliminary test according to EU method C.7 and OECD guideline no. 111, Reaction Product of Bisphenol A diglycidylether (BADGE) with IPDA and MXDA was hydrolytically stable at pH 7 and 12 °C (half-life > 1030 days at 12 °C). Hydrolysis at pH 4 and pH 9 was assessed using a read across approach from symmetrical epoxy amine adducts. Based on the results obtained hydrolysis at 50°C was 19 days for pH 4 and pH 9.

Preliminary hydrolysis test results were available for the asymmetrical epoxy amine Reaction Product of Bisphenol A diglycidylether (BADGE) with IPDA and MXDA. The substance was practically stable at all pH and temperatures tested and a DT50 at pH 7 and 12 °C of> 1030 days obtained. In addition, a read across approach was applied using data from the symmetrical epoxy amine adducts Reaction Product of Bisphenol A diglycidylether (BADGE) with IPDA and Reaction Product of Bisphenol A diglycidylether (BADGE) with MXDA, as these substances were considered to show comparable environmental fate properties. For Reaction Product of Bisphenol A diglycidylether (BADGE) with IPDA the DT50-value at 50 °C was determined to be 19 days at pH 9. For Reaction Product of Bisphenol A diglycidylether (BADGE) with MXDA the respective DT50-values at 50 °C were 5 days at pH 9 and 13 days at pH 4. Thus, worst-case DT50-values for asymmetrical adduct Reaction Product of Bisphenol A diglycidylether (BADGE) with IPDA and MXDA at 50 °C are 19 days at pH 4 and pH 9.
