Description of key information

Based on read across alkenes C24 - 28 are not flammable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Chilworth Technology Limited (2010) followed a standard method to determine the flammability of C26 - 28 alpha olefins. These data are read across to here.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The flammability of solids is determined on the basis of whether they can be easily ignited by brief contact with an ignition source and if the flame spreads rapidly. When tested C26 - 28 alpha olefins were seen not to ignite. On heating, the sample melted to a clear liquid, no flaming or propagation was observed. Therefore, based on read across, no classification is required.
