Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Using appropriate personal protective equipment, move

exposed subject to fresh air. If breathing is difficult or

ceases, ensure and maintain ventilation.

Give oxygen as appropriate. The exposed subject should be

kept warm and at rest. Obtain medical attention in cases of

known or possible over exposure, or with symptoms including

chest pain, difficulty breathing, loss of consciousness or

other adverse effects, which may be delayed.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Wash immediately with clean and gently flowing water.

Continue for at least 15 minutes. Obtain medical attention.

Emergency measure - Skin: Using appropriate personal protective equipment, remove

contaminated clothing and flush exposed area with large

amounts of water. Obtain medical attention if skin reaction

occurs, which may be immediate or delayed.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Obtain immediate medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: The notified chemical non-combustile solid and will not

support propagating combustion. Therefore, no special

requirements are needed. However, water is recommended for

fires involving packaging.

If possible contain and collect firefighting water for later

disposal.

Product arising from burning: Oxides of zirconium, carbon and nitrogen may be evolved if

combustion occurs.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Full protective clothing and self-contained breathing

apparatus must be worn.

Fight the fire from a safe distance or protected location.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Cordon the affected area and do not allow individuals to

touch or walk through the spilled substance unless wearing

appropriate protective clothing.

Avoid dust generation.

Prevent entry to waterways, sewers, surface drainage systems

and poorly ventilated areas. If spill is outdoors, cover

with plastic sheet to minimise spreading or contact with

rain.

Collect and place it in a suitable, properly labelled

container for recovery or disposal. After all solid or

absorbant material has been colected, the area should be

vacuumed with HEPA filter-equipped apparatus.

No specific decontamination or detoxification procedures

have been identified for this substance. Consider use on

water, detergent solutions, or other soluble solvents for

clean-up and decontamination operations.

Handling and storage

Handling: Avoid dispersion as a dust cloud. Depending upon the scale

of operation, use of appropriate exhaust ventilation is

recommended to provide routine control of fire and explosion

hazards during the handling of the substance.

Bond and earth (ground) all plants and equipment to ensure

that no isolated conductors are present. Isolated conductors

can accumulate sufficient electrostatic charge to produce

discharges of many hundreds of milli-Joules. Consider

earthing personnel dealing with dusty operations.

Storage: Keep in tightly closed containers or packages away from

moisture and away from sources of ignition.

Avoid prolonged storage at elevated temperatures (greater

than room temperature, approximately 20°C).

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: When purchased the material is to be delivered in maximum

20kg net weight sub packs in anti static liners within

fibre kegs or bulk box type container.

Environment

all solid waste and packaging that could potentially contain the notified chemical are sent off site for incineration.

Used packaging is returned to the supplier for recycling.

There are no emissions to the atmosphere as emissions from process vessels are vented to the incinerator.

No liquid wastes are directed to the open sewer.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: None reported.

Chemical reaction with water: None reported.

Dust explosion: The substance may form dust clouds, these can be sensitive

to ignition from incentive electrostatic discharges.

Dust explosion determined by test: N

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Discharge to the environment will be minimal. Recovery of

the notified chemical from minor spillages or accidental

discharge is not economically feasible, and such waste

material will be disposed of by incineration. In principle,

it may be possible to recover larger spillages of

uncontaminated material for subsequent use.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: The notification tests have shown that the test material is

not provisionally classified. Moreso, the substance will not

be made available to the public and the personnel involved

in the use processes are fully trained and will were

appropriate PPE further reducing the risk of exposure.

The substance is not provisionally clssified as dangerous to

the environment. Furthermore, release will be minimal.

There are no hazardous properties.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: None recommended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: The substance can be disposed of by incineration by burning

under controlled conditions at a licensed waste treatment

processor in accordance with local regulations. Stack gases

should be scrubbed, because noxious fumes (eg carbon and

nitrogen oxides) could be formed.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The substance should not normally be discharged directly to

the sewage system or aqueous environment.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: None.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not applicable as substance will not be made available to

the public.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable as substance will not be made available to

the public.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not applicable as substance will not be made available to

the public.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Not applicable as substance will not be made available to

the public.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not applicable as substance will not be made available to

the public.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - others: None
