Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Adsorption/Desorption
Based on the measured partitioning data of the read across substance Glucamide 18,18u it can be concluded that the partitioning of the registration substance to solid phases like soil, sediment and sludge is non-linear with respect to test item concentration and not directly correlated to organic carbon content. Sorption is influenced by ionic interactions between the hydrogen of the hydroxyl groups of the glucamine part of the molecule. Based on this fact it makes not much sense to characterize the sorption by the Koc. Instead Kd values for the different sorbents should be used.In the following the Kd values from the read across substance Glucamide 18,18u is given.
Sorption of 14C Glucamide 12 to raw and activated sludge
The adsorption coefficients (Kd) of C12 Glucose amide on activated sludge (AS) and deactivated raw sewage (RS) using both the wet and dry conditions were 261 ± 20 (wet), 264 ± 24 (dry), 892 ± 55 (wet) and 1802 ± 272 respectively.

Additional information

OECD 106 Adsorption/Desorption study with 14C Glucamide 18u

The median values of the Kd values from the OECD 106 study of 14C Glucamide 18u were used for the environmental exposure calculations of the registration substance.

The adsorption ofC12 Glucose amide (C12 GA)onto deactivated raw sewage (RS) and activated sludge (AS) solids was determined at realistic test substance concentrations.
