First-aid measures

As a general rule, in case of doubt or if symptoms persist, always call a doctor.

NEVER induce swallowing in an unconscious person.

In the event of exposure by inhalation:

In the event of inhalation, move patient to the open air. Keep warm and at rest.

In the event of splashes or contact with eyes:

Wash thoroughly with soft, clean water for 15 minutes holding the eyelids open.

If there is any redness, pain or visual impairment, consult an ophthalmologist.

In the event of splashes or contact with skin:

Wash skin immediately and thoroughly with soap and water.

In the event of swallowing:

Do not force vomiting.

Fire-fighting measures

Keep packages near the fire cool, to prevent pressurised containers from bursting.

Suitable extinguishing media:

Sprayed water, carbon dioxide (CO2) and foam.

Extinguishing media which must not be used for safety reasons:

Do not use large water jets.

Special protective equipment for fire-fighters:

Due to the toxicity of the gas emitted on thermal decomposition of the products, fire-fighting personnel are to be equipped with autonomous

insulating breathing apparatus.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions:

Consult the safety measures.

Environmental precautions:

Contain and control the leaks or spills with non-combustible absorbent materials such as sand, earth, vermiculite, diatomaceous earth in drums

for waste disposal.

Prevent any material from entering drains or waterways.

Use drums to dispose of waste recovered in accordance with applicable regulations (see heading 13).

If the product contaminates waterways, rivers or drains, alert the relevant authorities in accordance with statutory procedures

Methods for cleaning up:

Pump the product into a suitably-labelled non-metal, sealed, plastic, salvage receptacle.

Neutralise surplus carefully; use lime or sodium carbonate.

Wash the ground thoroughly with running water.

Wash non-retrievable surplus thoroughly with running water.

Handling and storage

The regulations relating to storage premises apply to workshops where the product is handled.

Handling:

When deliveries are made in drums or IBC, only use fork-lift trucks or pallet trucks for unloading vans and containers as well as for moving

products.

Fire prevention:

Prevent access by unauthorised personnel.

Recommended equipment and procedures:

For personal safety, see Exposure controls/Personal protection.

Observe precautions stated on label and also industrial safety regulations

Product must not come into contact with the eyes

Prohibited equipment and procedures:

Smoking, eating and drinking are prohibited in premises where the preparation is used

Never open the packages under pressure

Storage:

Store in a cool, dry and well-ventilated area.

Stack at ambient temperature in the original receptacle.

Store the receptacle tightly closed.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Use personal protection equipment as per Directive 89/686/EEC.

Respiratory protection:

If ventilation is insufficient to maintain fume concentrations below maximum exposure values, wear respiratory devices.

Hand protection:

Wear gloves sealed to acids.

Eye and face protection:

Avoid contact with eyes.

Provide eye washes in workshops where the product is constantly handled

Wear safety goggles.

Stability and reactivity

The preparation is stable at the handling and storage conditions recommended per the safety data sheet.

Materials to avoid:

Keep away from strong oxidants.

Hazardous decomposition products:

Thermal decomposition can release carbon and sulphur.

Disposal considerations

Do not pour into drains or waterways.

Waste:

Recycle or dispose of waste in compliance with current legislation, preferably via a certified collector or company.

Do not contaminate the ground or water with waste, do not dispose of waste into the environment.

Soiled packaging:

Empty container completely. Keep label(s) on container.

Give to a certified disposal contractor.
