Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
melting point/freezing point
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
comparable to guideline study with acceptable restrictions
Qualifier:
equivalent or similar to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.1 (Melting / Freezing Temperature)
GLP compliance:
not specified
Type of method:
differential scanning calorimetry
Key result
Melting / freezing pt.:
-111.2 °C
Decomposition:
no
Sublimation:
no

The melting point was determined at -111.2°C. During cooling a freezing point was detected at -131.2°C, however whereas the melting point was well defined with a moderate heating rate, the determined freezing point is afflicted with the effect of a supercooled liquid and depended on the cooling rate, which was not controlled. The recorded melting point is therefore reported as the key result.

Conclusions:
The melting point for the 2-bromo-3,3,3-trifluoropropene sample was determined at -111.2 °C.

Description of key information

The freezing temperature of 2-Bromo-3,3,3-trifluoropropene was determined as -111.2°C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
-111.2 °C
