First-aid measures

General advice:

Remove contaminated clothes.

If inhaled:

Keep patient calm, remove to fresh air, seek medical attention.

On skin contact:

Wash thoroughly with water and soap.

On contact with eyes:

Wash affected eyes for at least 15 minutes under running water with eyelids held open.

On ingestion:

Seek medical attention immediately! Rinse mouth immediately, then drink 200-300ml of water.

Note to physician:

Treat promptly and symptomatically for a narcotic analgesic. Treat accoding to symptoms (decontamination, vital functions). Beware respiratory depression! Most important is the correction of anoxia by all available means: maintenance of a patent airway, administration of oxygen, use of artificial respiration. Antidote: Naloxon. In case of emergency: Amiphenazol. Ingestion indicates gastric lavage.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media:

Water spray, foam, dry powder, carbon dioxide.

Unsuitable extinguishing media for safety reasons:

Water jet.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions:

Ensure adequate ventilation. Avoid dust formation.

Environmental precautions:

Do not discharge into drains/surface water/ground water. Do not discharge into the subsoil/soil.

Methods for cleaning up or taking up:

Pick up with suitable appliance and dispose of. Avoid raising dust.

Handling and storage

Handling:

Avoid dust formation.

Storage:

Keep container tightly closed. Store cold (2-8°C).

Exposure controls / personal protection

Personal protective equipment:

1. General safety and hygiene measures

Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice.

2. Hand protection

Suitable chemical resistant safety gloves (EN 374) also with prolonged, direct contact. Recommended: protective index 6, corresponding > 480 minutes of permeation time according to EN 374, e.g. nitrile rubber (0.4 mm), chloroprene rubber (0.5 mm), butyl rubber (0.7 mm).

3. Eye protection

Safety glasses with side-shields (frame goggles), e.g. EN 166.

4. Respiratory protection

Breathing protection if dusts are formed. Particle filter with low efficieny for solid particles (e.g. EN 143 or 149, type P1 or FFP1).

Stability and reactivity

Avoid dust formation.

Avoid excessive temperatures.

Avoid oxidizing agents.

Disposal considerations

Observe national and local requirements.

Legislation addressing waste disposal requirements may differ by country, state and/or territory.

Do not allow  wash water from cleaning or process equipment to enter drains.

Disposal to sewer may be subject to local laws and regulations, and these should be cosidered first.
