Description of key information

The BCF was estimated by QSAR (BCFBAF v3.00), and the resulting value was 39.06 L/kg wet weight.
According to mammalian toxicity data, Piperonyl butoxide is not classified as very toxic (T+), Toxic (T) or harmful (Xn) and does not carry the risk phrases R48, R60, R61, R62, R63 or R64. Additionally in an acute oral toxicity study with mammals a group of 6 female rats received a single dose of 2000 mg/kg bw neat Piperonyl butoxide by gavage. There were no mortalities and no clinical signs. Body weights were not affected and no pathological changes were observed. LD50 (rat, oral) exceeded 2000 mg/kg bw. Therefore, PBO is not regarded as bioaccumulative.
