Additional information

Both ready and inherent biodegradation of Cu(II)-IDHA were experimentally investigated.

With regard to the non-GLP study performed according to OECD Guideline 302B (Adob, 2013), 79.6 % degradation of the test item was obtained after 28 days. Conclusively, the substance Cu(II)-IDHA is considered as inherently biodegradable under the test conditions.

Referring to the results determined according to OECD Guideline 301F (Cokesa et al., 2004), the substance is potentially biodegradable. Based on O2 consumption, Cu(II)-IDHA revealed 40 % degradation during 28 days. However, precise conclusions on the ready biodegradability of the substance could not be drawn since important experimental details (test substance concentration) are missing. Furthermore, no toxicity control has been conducted although inactivation of microorganism was assumed due to the release of copper cations.

Since it was shown in the OECD 302B non-GLP study (Adob, 2013) that > 50 % degradation of the test item was obtained after 7 days, a strong biodegradation potantial is assumed for the test substance.
