Description of key information
Measured or estimated data are available for short-term and long-term toxicity to invertebrates and algae with the registration substance.
Measured short-term and long-term data are available for toxicity to fish with analogue substances, as well as long-term toxicity to invertebrates.
The key data are:
Short-term toxicity to fish:
GS215 (C12-C15) 96-hour LL50 >100 mg/l for mortality based on WAF loading rate.
GS310 (C18-C24) 96-hour LL50 >100 mg/l for mortality based on WAF loading rate.
Short-term toxicity to invertebrates:
The Hydrocarbons, C14-C16, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, <2% aromatics 48-hour LL50 was > 100 mg/l based on WAF loading rate.
Toxicity to algae:
The Hydrocarbons, C14-C16, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, <2% aromatics 72-hour EL50 was >100 mg/l and NOELR ≥100 mg/l for effects on growth rate based on WAF loading rate.
Long-term toxicity to fish:
GS190 (C10-C13) 32-day NOELR was ≥100 mg/l for effects on hatching, survival and growth of Pimphales promelas based on WAF loading rate;
GTL Gasoil (C8-C26) 33-day NOELR was 100 mg/l for effects on fish length and dry weight of Pimphales promelas based on WAF loading rate.
Long-term toxicity to invertebrates:
GTL Gasoil (C8-C26) 21-day NOELR of 32 mg/L for effects on survival and reproduction of freshwater invertebrate Daphnia magna based on WAF (nominal) loading rate.
The Hydrocarbons, C14-C16, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, <2% aromatics estimated 21-day NOELR value was >1000 mg/l based on reproduction (estimated by Petrotox computer model (PETROTOX-UDM_ver3.01-2006-01438-01-E)).
Toxicity to microorganisms:
The Hydrocarbons, C14-C16, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, <2% aromatics estimated protozoan 48-hour EL50 value was >1000 mg/L based on growth inhibition of Tetrahymena elliotti. The value was estimated using the Petrotox computer model (PETROTOX-UDM_ver3.01-2006-01438-01-E).
