Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Ready biodegradation and Inherent biodegradation studies in water were performed for FR-245.

Ready Biodegradation: The tested substance FR-245 (initial concentration = 100 mg/L) was exposed to the activated sludge in a closed-system oxygen consumption measuring apparatus. The biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) was measured over a 28-day period. From the degradability results, based on BOD and residual test substance it was concluded that FR-245 is not readily biodegradable.

Inherent Biodegradation: The tested substance FR-245 (initial concentration = 20 mg/L) was exposed to a composite inoculum consisting of a mixture of activated sludge. FR-245 was found to be not inherently biodegradable since less than 20% of its carbon content was released as CO2 during the test period of 74 days. The total inorganic carbon produced during the test was equal to 4% of the amount of carbon introduced as test substance.

The results from these studies indicate that FR-245 is persistent.
