Description of key information

For plants, in total 31 individual high quality chronic EC10 or NOEC values for 8 different species are selected for the effects assessment. Toxicity data derived in freshly spiked soils (22 observations) range from 11 mg added V/kg dw (for tomato shoot yield in 3 natural soils from Belgium, Spain and Sweden) to 250 mg added V/kg dw (for barley root elongation in a natural soil from Sweden). Vanadium toxicity to plants was generally lower in soils where V had been equilibrated for more than 5 months, with EC10 values (9 observations) ranging from 28 to 370 mg V/kg soil. All data are based on added V concentrations in soil.
