Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

key study
Study period:
22 Mar-08 Apr 1991
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Remarks:
Also according to GLP
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.14 (Explosive properties)
Version / remarks:
1984
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Remarks:

Parameter:
sensitiveness to impact: impact energy (J)
Remarks on result:
not sensitive to impact using an impact energy of 40 J
Parameter:
sensitiveness to friction: friction load (N)
Remarks on result:
not sensitive to friction using a friction load of 360 N
Parameter:
thermal sensitivity - Koenen test: diameter of the orifice plate
Remarks on result:

Inspection of all tubes upon conclusion of the experiments showed that part of the solid substance had been discharged via the orifice plate. The remainder was changed in colour from white to black.

Result (sensitive shock): 6 times negative, sensitivity >40 Nm

Result (friction): 6 times negative, sensitivity >360 N. The sample changed the cour from white to black.

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
The test item was determined to be non-explosive.
Executive summary:

The explosiveness of the test item was investigated accord to the EC A.14 method in compliance with GLP. The test item was not thermal sensitive, sensitive to friction or to impact. Therefore, the test item is determined to not be explosive.

Description of key information

not explosive

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

The substance is not explosive as determined in the test performed according to EEC Method A.14 (1984).

Justification for classification or non-classification

The available data on explosiveness of the test substance do not meet the criteria for classification according to Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 or Directive 67/548/EEC, and are therefore conclusive but not sufficient for classification:

No explosive properties determined in a test according to EEC Method A.14 (1984).
