Biodegradation in water:
readily biodegradable

Additional information

Since no data for alcohol ethoxylate (C10-12, < 2.5 EO, CAS 67254 -71-1) are available, ready biodegradability is assessed on the basis of data from two studies with similar alcohol ethoxylates (C12, 4 EO, CAS 9002-92-0 and C10-12, 6 EO, CAS 66455-15-0). Both studies were conducted according to OECD 301B, with domestic activated sludge as inoculum (Lebertz, 2001a and 2001b). The reported degradation rates ranges from 78 to 83% based on CO2 evolution. Hence, alcohol ethoxylates (C10-12, < 2.5 EO) can be regarded as readily biodegradable according to the strict OECD requirements.
