Description of key information

flash point: 136 °C (EU Method A.9)
pyrophoric properties: no (EU Method A.13)
flammable on contact with water: not expected based on experience during handling and use and based on assessment of the chemical structure (EU Method A.12)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

Based on flash point and boiling point, the Alcohols, C10 -12, ethoxylated (EO <2.5) (CAS 67254 -71 -1) is a non-flammable liquid. In the pyrophoricity test, spontaneous ignition in contact with air did not occur. Based on experience during handling and use (e.g. water solubility test) in combination with the assessment of the chemical structure of the substance, flammability on contact with water is not to be expected.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The available data on flammability of the test substance do not meet the criteria for classification according to Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 and are therefore conclusive but not sufficient for classification: Flash-point > 60°C, no pyrophoric properties, not flammable on contact with water. The substance is considered to be a non-flammable liquid.
