Additional information

The BCF (aquatic) of 2-octyldodecan-1-ol is predicted to be 539 and 53 using the regression-based and Arnot-Gobas upper trophic approach, respectively, using a calculated log KOW of 8.63 (BCFBAF, EPI Suite). The major difference is that the Arnot-Gobas method takes into account metabolism of the substance by the organism. For a readily metabolized substance, this limits how much the body can concentrate. In the regression-based estimate approach, biotransformation is not taken into account. The associated biomagnification factor (BMF) for the BCF is 1.
