Description of key information

Calcium iodate ignites only when the flame of bunsen burner having temperature of 950°C is brought in contact with it. Thus it can be concluded that calaium iodate is flammable only at high temperature of about 950°C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

Calcium iodate ignites only when the flame of bunsen burner having temperature of 950°C is brought in contact with it. Thus it can be concluded that calcium iodate is flammable only at high temperature of about 950°C. However since such high temperatures are not found under normal circumstances of transportation and use, calcium iodate was considered non-flammable for chemical safety assessment.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Calcium iodate is flammable only at high temperature of about 950°C. Since such high temperatures are not found under normal circumstances of transportation and use, calcium iodate was considered non-flammable for chemical safety assessment.
